The Return of the Preschool Hour

Last spring, I instituted The Preschool Hour in our homeschool.  It isn't always an hour and it certainly isn't every day, but it is an intentional way to incorporate some preschool activities for my now 4- and 2-year-olds into our elementary school home.

Last week, we did the easiest project ever

We began 2 plain pieces of white paper.  You could also use colored construction paper. With masking tape, I marked out a large "A" for Alaine and a large "B" for Ben.  Then they each colored all over their papers.  Both choose crayon, but I offered colored pencils or washable markers, too.

When they finished, I carefully peeled back the tape and we were left with a bright white letter in the midst of a colorful rainbow of design!

Easy peasy.

Have you done any simple projects with your children this week?

  1. Our simple project was a morning of muffin making. We made them to share at an event and instead of stressing myself out making 12 dozen mini muffins from scratch, I opted for 4 boxes of muffin mix. Simply adding eggs, water, and oil made it a fun project for all the kids to be involved in, so sometimes simplicity trumps homemade :)
