Inspired by The Quirky Bookworm's BFF Book Challenge, my sister and I are having our own book challenge this year. It's low-key and low-pressure. This is how it works:
I choose 10 books for her. She chooses 10 books for me.
We each pick at least five from the list to read and blog about sometime in 2013. Here's Kati's list for me:
Crooked House
by Agatha Christie, The Wind in the Willows
by Kenneth Grahame, The Scarlet Pimpernel
by Baroness Orczy, Romeo and Juliet
by William Shakespeare, All Creatures Great and Small
by James Herriot, Calico Bush
by Rachel Field, Bride of Thistleloch Castle
by Therese Stenzel, The Centurion's Wife
by Davis Bunn and Janette Oke, Maid to Match
by Deeanne Gist, Mr. Darcy's Diary
by Amanda Grange
Here's my list for her:
The Secret Keeper
by Kate Morton, Peter Pan
by J. M. Barrie, Keep a Quiet Heart
by Elisabeth Elliot, Wonderland Creek
by Lynn Austin, Holes
by Louis Sachar, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
by Roald Dahl, Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo, The Air We Breathe
by Christa Parrish, Thr3e
by Ted Dekker and How Not to Die
by Dr. Jan Garavaglia
I was slightly OCD about gathering a varied list (male and female authors, nonfiction and fiction, Christian and not, adult and children's literature), plus attempting to find books she'd not read!
While we're not asking anyone to commit to joining us, we'd love to hear if any of these books are on your reading list for this year...or if you've already read any of them.

What a fun challenge!
ReplyDeleteI've chosen 13 books to read this year, although I've already added 3 more to the original list.
So far I've finished The Treasure Principle: Unlocking the Secret to Joyful Giving by Randy Alcorn (here's my review) and Kisses from Katie by Katie Davis (I'll be sharing my review soon). Both were very good!
Right now I'm reading Love Does by Bob Goff. His life is very inspiring! So far I've really enjoyed it.
I got Holes from the e-library and I'm going to start it as soon as I finish the Lynn Austin book I'm currently reading.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastically fun idea! Love The Scarlet Pimpernel.
ReplyDeleteI just finished the Secret Keeper thanks to your recommendation. Ahhhhh! That's all I can say. :) So good.
Oh, and librivox.org has an audio reading of The Wind in the Willows. The man who read even does all the voices :) So far, the kids (especially Emahry) are really enjoying it.
