The first day of spring is March 20th, but it hardly feels as though we experienced winter this year. Yesterday, though, we watched it snow for about four hours and stick to a few surfaces before it all melted again before dinner. After measuring snow in feet the past two winters, it was a welcome relief to see only a couple of inches total this entire winter. {My kids feel differently, but I remind them that they don't have to drive in it.} The only thing that disappoints me is that I bought an OshKosh snow suit in Benjamin's size for 25 cents at a yard sale and he never got to wear it.

1. The thought of not needing to dress my kids in coats (or hats or scarfs or mittens or boots) when we leave the house makes me giddy! I will rejoice when we pack the winter gear up and store it until next year.
2. Open windows are spring's rite of passage. I love to smell spring air and I love to feel the breeze on my face while I wash dishes.
3. I am excited about consistently sending the kids outside for fresh air every day. The little ones nap better and everyone sleeps better when they've had a chance to run and yell and shake out all their energy.
4. I must say I can't wait to pull out my flip flops again...and pretty toe nail polish. Good-bye, socks and close-toed shoes.
5. This spring holds one more little pleasure. For the first time since we've had kids, Brian and I are taking a weekend away alone! I'm sure we'll be thinking of the kids the whole time, but it will be nice to travel without anyone saying, "How much longer?" and to eat without someone saying, "How many more bites do I need to take?"
What are you looking forward to this spring?

Love this post. I was saying the samething yesterday: I cant wait to wear my flip flops, thats all i wear in spring and summer I have about 25 pairs :-) Cant wait to not have to bundle the kids up, hats, coats etc. I want to start gardening and getting my flower pots together.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a weekend getaway. Tim and I have talked of a week trip next year since we can go to Germany with his for a quarter of the usual price, but I'm not sure we'll actually go through with it or not.
ReplyDeleteI'm so with you on the flip flops!
ReplyDeleteAnd congrats on your getaway! I SO wish we could do that but we don't have anyone to babysit. Where are you going?
